Wonderful people doing wonderful work. It cheers me somewhat to know that there are people who care. Sometimes I get very downhearted in this world of callous indifference... where even members of my own family think I'm weird because I don't eat animals or drink their milk. Hopefully there will come a more enlightened time when people will look back in amazement at some of the terrible things we did. 🙏
Not knowing how old you are ... but ... there has been progress ... when I went vegetarian in 1985 I was VERY odd ... when I went vegan in 1991 - luckily I was living in a vegan house and working in a vegan workers cooperative ... but the outside world thought it very very odd ... now I have slipped back into vague-anism ... oat milk on muesli, soya in tea - but WI cakes ...
I'm 70 next week and have been vegetarian for over 40yrs. I try to avoid dairy... I use coconut milk (a brand that doesn't exploit monkeys) and oat milk. I use dairy free spreads. I still eat eggs... but only from places where they are truly free range. My meat gorging son in law reckons vegans are destroying the planet!!! All the forests that are cleared to grow crops to feed livestock, apparently don't count as destroying the planet 🤣
Your SIL sounds like he needs a basic lesson in physics! My soya is organic and European ... so avoids accusations (misplaced) of the soya destruction of the amazon, which, as you rightly say, is grown to feed cattle!
This is so cheering, thank you for this. At a time When there is so much gloom it is wonderful to have these sunlight rays of hope and compassion. It is fab that there are such good people out there.
Such great work they've done to help wildlife we should all be looking out for wildlife leaving out food and water.
What a lovely story about a lovely institution caring for wildlife!
I too read every book by James Herriott, loved every word!
