Who knows what the cost and impact to wildlife will be with all these wildfires, we might have all been enjoying the partial eclipse last night but today we need to be thinking that just banning BBQs can’t be the only solution to stopping them occurring. Glad you are taking some time out to look after your mum, my parents are the same this hot weather has driven them indoors not a great life to be hiding behind curtains because it’s too hot outside.
I am desperate to find someone near me, who can put fresh water (and some of my hedgehog biscuits) out each day, whilst I am not at home. But that is challenging. I have one hog who seems dependent. Has made a nest in my dead hedge/habitat pile and just spends it’s time here at night, eat, drink, back to bed, repeat during the night. Probably due to no water or food available elsewhere around here 😞
radio tracking does suggest that hedgehogs will use many different gardens over the night - which is why the hedgehog highways campaign is so important ... I am fascinated by Grace's idea around automated dispensers, I need to look into that!
Can you let me have a link to these please? I’ve had cat food ones but only did 2 days. The water one might help but concerned over heating and cooling during very hot days (rescues warn about build up of bacteria in water left in the heat) but i could have a look. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hedgehogs quickly learn to use automatic cat food dispensers and ditto water dispensers.
