I have done exactly the same to help hedgehogs climb a small (approximately 12 inches high) wall to get up onto my culinary herb garden after seeing one struggle, I placed some s rocks against the wall to create some bwrough steps which they began using straight away. Adjacent areas are paved and obviously not favourable to them, so they loved the herb garden, which is a little bit more wild, and fruitful for foraging for invertebrates!❤️🦔
Nice! Do we know what sort of incline they can handle (or at least wouldn’t be put off by)?
Our garden backs onto some allotments and there’s a bit of a drop with a retaining wall so at the moment the only way between is by jumping so I was thinking of trying to make some sort of passage so that smaller creatures could pass between the areas. I was thinking a 45 degree plank with rungs on for grip?
Also, sorry if this isn’t the place for this, I haven’t used substack before and i’m not sure of the conventions etc
GREAT IDEA FOR THE HOGS.I'D JUST LIKE TO MENTION ABOUT BADGERS AND HEDGEHOGS FEEDING HABITS,BOTH ARE OFTEN IN MY GARDEN,FEEDINGAND ONCE THEY WERE VERY CLOSE TOGETHER FEEDING AND THE BADGER BARKED AT THE HEDGE HOG.THE HOG RUNAWAY ALL WAS OK THE BADGER WENT THE OTHER DIRECTION.IT WAS LOVELY TO SEE THEM BOTH TOLERATE EACH OTHER.ALSO I LIKED YOUR PHOTO OF THE RED KITE,HUGH ON THE CALENDER FOR PROTECT THE WILD.
